PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE:

Hi everyone!  The next activity coming up for our club is the Charity Tree Trimming Get-Together at the Long Neck Road Grotto Pizza on Monday, November 21st from 8 – 10 p.m.  Food & beverages will be provided.  While we have some decorations, more are always welcome.  The theme for our tree is Corvettes!  Decorations should compliment our theme. The trees remain on display throughout the season and are identified with the Club name and the charity we’ve chosen which is the Make-A-Wish Foundation.  Patrons then deposit money into our designated box and all proceeds go to our charity.   This is always a fun event so I hope to see you there!

The club will not hold a meeting on Thursday, December 1st.  Instead, we will hold a brief business meeting at the Lighthouse Restaurant immediately before the Christmas Party on December 2nd.   Sometime during the evening we will hold our gift exchange.  Women are asked to buy for women and men for men.  Try to keep your cost around $15 each.  Wrap your gift and mark it for a man or woman.  More details about the party are in the activities section.

Our January 5th meeting will be at Pizza Palace.  All details are at the beginning of the newsletter.

The Club will participate in the Millsboro Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 3rd.  All the details are in Carolyn’s Activities section.

Bill Vernon had hip replacement surgery on Monday, November 14th and came home on the 17th .  According to Sharon he is “doing pretty good” but not yet chasing her around the kitchen table!  Otts Bortle is progressing well.  The MRI revealed the tumor had shrunk after all the radiation treatments.  Since then he has had 5 intense “insurance” radiation treatments and will have another MRI later this month.  Please keep these members in your prayers.

The Mystery Cruise took us to Chesapeake City, Maryland for a really good dinner at The Bayard House.  The Circa 1830’s building provided a beautiful canal side setting for the warm fall day.  Cindy & Doug Riniker, Sharon & Bill Vernon, and Kathy & Jim Geary met up with us for the cruise to Milton where Richard and Kathy Miller hosted a morning pre-cruise get-together at their beautiful home.  Buddy Clark and his friend Jim along with two friends of Rich & Kathy met us there.  We crooked off in Dover to pick up the Kisner’s and three other couples from the 1st State club.  Rich & Kathy lead the way for the 11 cruisers while me, Dianne, my Mother Helen, and our dog, Lexy brought up the rear in Dianne’s Equinox…just too many people for the Corvette! It was a really good cruise and kudos to the Millers for planning such a good activity!

In closing  let me share some good news!  Bill Vernon attended the recent National Car Restorers Society competition in Williamsburg, Virginia and WON the TOP FLIGHT award.  If you’ve seen his 1963 Seabring Silver Roadster you will agree that the prize was well deserved.  Congratulations Bill!

Hope to see each of you at one of our upcoming activities.

Bill
