 Message from the President….

We had a great turnout at the last meeting, with new members Tom and Carol Brinker, and Michael and Charlotte Copes in attendance.  Bill and Dianne Shaw submitted an application and we welcome them as new members and hope to see them soon.  We covered a lot of information at the last meeting and want to thank Ed and Tonya Marcell who attended and gave us a lot of information on exciting functions coming up.

I want to thank Jack Casto for his work on our website and hope that he will give us an update at the next meeting.

December is going to be a busy month for us; our meeting will be on December 4th at the Cottage Café in Bethany Beach (they have a $9.99 prime rib special on Thursday nights) so I know what I will be ordering!!! Our club Christmas party will be December 5th at the Lighthouse Restaurant in Lewes and I hope everyone gets in touch with Marie on that.  The following Saturday, December 6th, is the Millsboro Christmas Parade.  Line up will be at 8:00 a.m. at the M&T Bank parking lot.  PLEASE TRY TO ATTEND SO WE CAN MAKE A GOOD SHOWING AND BRING HOME A TROPHY!!!!

My thanks go out to everyone for your support and if we do not see you at any of the events, Connie and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

BEACHCOMBERS CORVETTE CLUB

MINUTES

November 6, 2003

bulletP President Don Magee called the meeting to order at 7:31 p.m.

bullet23 members were present:  Ray and Marie Myers, Don and Connie Magee, Doug and Cindy Riniker, Peter and Marion Bon, Eric and Rose Leister, Dale and Lynne Buckwalter, Jack and Linda Casto, Bill and Sharon Vernon, Tom and Carol Brinker, John and Lil Stitchberry, Rich and Kathy Miller and Len Kozarski.

bulletThe President began the meeting with a welcome to our guests, Ed and Tonya Marsell and our newest members, Tom and Carol Brinker.

bulletThe President then asked for the Secretary’s report. Connie Magee asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes as stated in the newsletter and then requested that the minutes be approved as written from the October meeting.  Peter made a motion to have minutes approved as written and Don seconded the motion and they were unanimously approved.

bulletConnie also announced that Sue Knox had a birthday coming up on the 18th and Kathy Miller’s birthday was on the 21st.

bulletEric read the treasurer’s report.  Connie made a motion to have the report approved and Cindy seconded and they were unanimously approved.

bulletThe Vice President then read off two applications. One application was for Michael and Charlotte Copes of Preston, Maryland who were in attendance at the meeting. They have a 1959 red convertible and a 2001 red convertible.  The other application was for Bill and Dianne Shaw of Ocean View, Delaware .  They have a 1994 red convertible.  Marie made a motion to accept these new applications into the club and it was seconded by John Stitchberry and everyone approved.

bulletRose stated that she had pictures from the trip to the Dunnings’ boat and passed them around.

bulletMarie stated that on Sunday, November 9th, everyone was to plan on meeting at the WaWa in Millsboro at 12:30 to cruise to Waterman’s in Salisbury for lunch and then cruise back to Millsboro Bowling Alley for bowling from at 4:00 .  A sign-up sheet was passed around.

bulletMarie set up our Christmas party for Friday, December 5th, at the Lighthouse Restaurant in Lewes.  It will be a cash bar beginning at 6:00 with dinner at 7:00 .  Dinner will consist of Chesapeake chicken, prime rib or seafood imperial with side dishes served as a buffet and chocolate mousse for dessert.  The cost is approximately $23.95 per person but the club will pay for the dinner and the D.J.

bulletMarie mentioned that she and Ray would be having an open house holiday party on December 20th.

bulletMarie also mentioned that we would not be having a social in January and probably not a meeting like last year.  She is checking on a trip to Three Little Baker’s dinner theatre in February to see Smokey Joe’s Café possibly on February 21st.  The cost would be approximately $48.95 per person; the dinner is at 5:00 and the show at 8:00 .  Tom and Carol Brinker mentioned that they drive school buses and would take us to the show.  Doug made a motion that if they did that the club should purchase their tickets for the show and their gas for the trip.  Bill Vernon seconded the motion and all approved.   Marie will send in deposit and money would be due by next meeting.

bulletThe President mentioned that we had received a thank you from the American Cancer Society which was read by Bill Vernon and given to Rose for the album.  Doug mentioned that next year our name would be on the shirts given to the walkers as a sponsor.

bulletThe National Corvette Museum was discussed again as a possible charity and the donation to have a brick placed with our club name.  Len made a motion to go ahead and do this at a cost of $600.00 and Dale seconded the motion.  All were in favor.

bulletThe President mentioned the Christmas parades; Rehoboth on Monday night, December 8th and Millsboro on Saturday, December 6th.  It was agreed to do one parade and to participate only if we had enough cars.  Two sign up sheets were passed around, one for Rehoboth and one for Millsboro.  The Millsboro parade was agreed on.  The parade begins at 10:00 and line-up is at 8:00 .  We have some decorations and everyone can decorate their car how they like.

bulletThe President brought up the tree trimming at Grotto’s on November 24th from 8:00 to 11:00 .  Doug made a motion to agree to do this again and Rose seconded it.  Connie will send in the application with the required fee.

bulletThe President mentioned he had received a letter from the Shorebird’s and only 3 Saturdays were available next summer.  Doug made a motion to do this on August 7, 2004 and Rose seconded it.  Marie will be calling Norb to set this up.

bulletEd Marsell from First State Corvette Club mentioned that they were once again planning a trip to Atlantic City on February 28, 2004 .  Eric will be working with Ed on this and will advise us later of the details but there will be a bus leaving from Salisbury at a cost of $33.00, one from Georgetown at a cost of $30.00, and one from Dover at a cost of $28.00.  This price includes the cost of the car show of $12.00.  If you do not attend the car show the cost would be $12.00 less.  The trip will be to the Sands Hotel.

bulletRich mentioned that since we had such a great crab feast at Jimmy Lynn’s last year and since he also has a corvette that we should offer him a free membership to the club for one year.  Rich made a motion on this and it was seconded by Dale.  An application was given to Rich to give to him.

bulletThe 50/50 was held and $23.00 was won by Rose.

bulletTwo door prize tickets were drawn and Connie and Eric both won a case of sodas.

bulletThe President adjourned the meeting at 8:20 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Connie Magee
