Message from the President….

Our next meeting will be at the Georgia House in Millsboro on April 1st.  Everyone needs to check into places to hold our monthly meetings since we have no scheduled places after this next meeting.

Nominations are closed and voting will be at the April meeting with the only contested office being that of Vice President.

I would like to welcome our newest members, Lewis and Janet Smith of Frankford.

It is time to really begin thinking and planning for our car show in August.  We still need someone to chair the show so that we can get organized and get the letters out to the sponsors.  Everyone helps in the car show but we need to have someone to oversee the planning.

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT DUES MUST BE PAID AT THIS NEXT MEETING IN ORDER TO VOTE.                                                                         Don

BEACHCOMBERS CORVETTE CLUB

MINUTES

March 4, 2004

bulletPresident Don Magee called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.
bullet19 members were present:  Ray Myers, Don and Connie Magee, Pat and Otts Bortle, Bill and Dianne Shaw, Rose and Eric Leister, Dale and Lynne Buckwalter, Peter and Marion Bonn, Joe Worts, Bill and Sharon Vernon, Tom and Carolyn Brinker and Rick Berry.  Ed and Tonya Marcelle were present as guests.
bulletThe President then asked for the Secretary’s report. Connie Magee asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes as stated in the newsletter and then requested that the minutes be approved as written.  Bill made a motion to have minutes approved as written and Rose seconded the motion and they were unanimously approved.
bulletEric read the treasurer’s report.  Bill made a motion to have the report approved and Connie seconded and they were unanimously approved.
bulletThe Vice President read off the application of Lewis and Janet Smith from Frankford.  They own 2corvettes.  Ray asked for a vote to accept them as members and Pat made a motion and Bill seconded it and it was unanimously approved.
bulletRay thanked Tom and Carolyn Brinker for taking us to the Three Little Baker’s Dinner Theatre.  Everyone had plenty of food and enjoyed the show.
bulletRay mentioned the great time that we had attending Atlantic City with the Shorevettes.  Everyone had a great time, especially Rose since she was the only one that brought money home.
bulletRay mentioned that our next social event would be a St. Patrick’s Day dinner at the home of Carolyn and Tom Brinker on March 20th.  Carolyn said to come at 6:00 and she is sending out directions to everyone to their house.  If anyone cares to bring something they can bring an appetizer or a dessert.  Joe made a motion for the Club to pay for beer and sodas and Connie seconded it.  It was decided that Carolyn would submit a bill and the Club would vote on what would be paid.
bulletRay also mentioned that at the next meeting Marie would have membership cards for everyone.  These could be used to show First State Chevrolet that you are a member and entitled to the discount on service.
bulletThere was no historian report.
bulletConnie read off the nominated names to date officers:

President         -           Joe Worts

Vice President -          Dale Buckwalter and Rich Miller

Secretary        -           Donna Dunning

Treasurer        -           Lynne Buckwalter

Historian          -           Pat Bortle

Activities Chair-           Carolyn Brinker

Sgt. at Arms    -           Peter Bon

Bill Vernon made a motion that nominations be closed and Ray seconded it.

bulletDianne Shaw has agreed to take over the job of the newsletter.
bulletDon mentioned that we are still looking for meeting places for the club.  We are meeting in April at the Georgia House in Millsboro and he asked everyone to think about other places to go.
bulletBill Shaw brought and modeled (great job Bill, don’t quit your day job) a shirt and a jacket for everyone that he had purchased for his self from the place in Milford.  It was suggested that we get one color shirt for the men and another color for the women so that we would all have the same shirts at club functions (suggestions were red for the women and blue for the men).  Any other items would be ordered individually.  Everyone should place his or her order by the next meeting so that Bill can send in a bulk order.  The shirt was $26.00 and $7.00 for the embroidery. The jacket was $40.00 with $27.00 for the embroidery.  The larger the order could result in a reduction of the price.
bulletDon talked about the “Gordon’s School” being held on April 3rd at Rick Berry’s garage.  He talked to Jay Reynolds, the President of First State, and just reminder everyone that one member of the Club cannot agree to do something without a vote from the Club. Rick mentioned that C-4’s were going to be discussed and anyone wishing to attend needs to get their application in since they were only going to accept about 75 people.
bulletDon mentioned that we needed to pick a car show chairman and begin work on planning the car show.  He talked to Lee at First State and set the date for August 21st.  We will try and pick a chairman next month.  Don also talked to Lee about sponsorship and he could not see any reason why they would not continue to be our sponsor.
bulletDon mentioned the highway cleanup that we do every year.  Dianne Shaw made a motion to do this on Tuesday, May 4th, and Ray seconded it.  Connie made a motion that the club pay for the pizza and beer at Grottos after the cleanup and Joe seconded it.
bulletDon mentioned that friends of Bruce and Margaret Bent have a 91 white corvette with 41,000 miles on it for sale and are asking $12,500.00.
bulletThe 50/50 of $33.00 was won by Otts Bortle.
bulletThe door prize, donated by Tom and Carolyn Brinker, was a bottle of cream rum and was won by Peter Bon.
bulletThe President adjourned the meeting at 7:55 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Connie Magee
