PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
I know I am repeating myself but I want to once again thank Buddy for chairing the best car show we have had and for everyone who helped and contributed to make the show such a great success.
We have been geared up so long for the car show that now it is time to turn our thoughts to the holidays. In the October and November meetings we will be discussing some of the Christmas parades and deciding how we want to proceed.
Wow, I added up our members after the last meeting and we now have 94 members and still going strong. I am so proud of the Club and the way we have grown and all the things we have accomplished. We may be small but we all work well together.
See you at the next meeting.
Connie

Prior to the business Rick Fields from the Children’s Beach House gave a presentation. He explained that the Beach House is a youth development program that deals with children with speech, hearing, language and mild orthopedic disorders between the ages of 6 and 15. The children learn to be successful in a camp type setting by forming quality relationships and friendships by making decisions on their own. At present the Beach House has applied for a federal grant for a mentoring program.
President Connie Magee presented Rick Fields with a check for $2000.00, the proceeds from the car show, for the Children’s Beach House. Rick Fields accepted the check and said that the donation was greatly appreciated.
At this time the meeting was called to order. Dianne Shaw led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. The flags were held in replica of the club logo donated by Joe & Karen Schluck.
The minutes of the last meeting were approved.
Debbie Willis gave the treasurer’s report.
Vice President Doug Riniker read the applications for membership for Lee & Donna Repass, Miriam Targonski, Bill and Bette Lou Timmons, Tom & Sandra Natolly and Ken and Judith Pickering. A motion was made and seconded to accept all. All were accepted unanimously. Miriam Targonski was present.
Jim Willis reported that the pool party was a huge success with everyone having a wonderful time and several challenges made for next year regarding retaliation for this year’s shenanigans.
Carolyn Brinker reported that she and Tom had gone to Carlyle, met a lot of nice people and had a great time.
For activities, Carolyn suggested the Lancaster Sights and Sounds Theater for November. Bill Vernon will organize another mystery cruise for mid October or November.
The Corvettes at Ocean City will be held the weekend of October 13. We will talk about this activity at the October meeting. Carolyn also suggested an evening at the Harrington Raceway.
Connie Magee thanked all for their help with the car show. She reported 43 members in attendance and everyone worked as a team. There were 138 cars entered. The food was excellent.
Doug Riniker thanked Buddy Clark for an excellent job in putting the show together.
Buddy Clark stated that the entire club should be commended and that it was a tremendous show. He thanked everyone.
Connie Magee presented special awards to Jim Willis, for all the sponsors he obtained, and to Joe Schluck for outstanding contribution for support of the car show.
Connie asked for suggestions for improvement next year and for constructive criticism for this year’s show. She asked that these comments be given to Joe Schluck.
Connie has appointed Don Magee and Joe Schluck to look over the bylaws for changes and bring suggestions to the next meeting.
Mike Pizzola related an experience he had with Delaware Hospice. He had heard of patient with the hospice who was having her 46th birthday. She very much wanted to ride in a white Corvette. Mike volunteered his. The patient was bed ridden for three months and couldn’t get in the car. Her husband drove it for her. Symbolically, it was hers for the day.
There are lots of car shows coming up. Information was available. We are asked to support these activities.
Happy Birthday was wished to Scott Clapper, Sharon Ruskansky and Janet Smith.
Jim Willis and Joe Schluck will personally give letters of appreciation to those businesses who have sponsored the car show at least 2 times. Their plan was to do this on Friday Sept. 7.
Dianne Shaw announced that the club t-shirts were here (at the meeting) and were $13.00.
Connie Magee asked that the club be pro-active for next year’s car show and purchase items such as a tent and cooker. Bill Shaw made the motion the make these purchases. The motion was seconded and passed.
The 50/50 was $122.00 (total) and won by Georgia Tibbs.
Door prizes, donated by Joe Schluck and Mike Pizzola, were won by Diane Brooks and Rich Brown (Sorry)
The meeting was adjourned.
