PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
The weather has been
unseasonably warm with snow and rain at a minimum allowing us to take advantage
of some additional cruise time.
Doug and Cindy Riniker
removed the Christmas decorations from Grotto’s and the decorations have been
stored at Jim and Deb Willis’ home. Thank you all for your continued help and
support of our club.
We are glad to see membership
growing. . There are many Corvette owners and enthusiasts who would benefit
from our club. Please remember to
continue to pass out membership applications at every possible occasion.
Member Spotlight
The dictionary describes enthusiast as someone who is deeply
involved in something. No better description could be said of Rick Berry and his wife Linda Berry. They epitomize of the word
enthusiast. Rick has always brought his truck to our car shows and helped that
day each year, including, but not limited to, registration, voting, organizing,
picture taking, and so many other ways it would be difficult to enumerate. Rick and Linda have hosted one of our club events each of the past several
years. They have provided a Cook Out/Pool Party/Tour of their incredible
collection of Corvette memorabilia. This has proven to be an event not to be
missed. It truly amazes me how anyone could collect so many interesting items.
Their 40’ by 60’ Garage houses their 10 Corvettes and other collectables in the
downstairs, while the upper floor of this building has thousands of
collectables. Many “one of a kind” items including many items that even the
National Corvette museum does not posses.
Suffice it to say that a trip to Rick
and Linda’s Museum in one you will
never forget. They are charter members of First State Corvette club of Dover,
and members of Eastern Shore Corvettes of Salisbury. They have also been very
involved in these clubs and have served in many positions on the board of
directors of both these other local clubs. Rick
and Linda have traveled to
Europe with their Corvette. They are active members of, and very involved in,
the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Ky.
Although Corvettes are their
first love, Rick and Linda are also very involved in other
fine organizations like Ducks Unlimited (A National Conservation Group).
Space does not allow for me
to cite all of the accomplishments and works that these two fine, down to
earth, people have done for this and many other organizations. Suffice it to say that our club is a much
better group than it would be without Rick
and Linda’s participation. We are
pleased to have you both as members.

In

JOIN ME IN A
BIG WELCOME TO
OUR NEW MEMBERS
Have you spotted a 1999 Red
Convertible zipping between Seaford and the beach. Give a wave because it’s Steve and Diane Brooks. Now you’ll really be tested on Corvette
knowledge when you see one of those yellow Corvettes. If it’s a 2004 give a wave to Joe and Karen Schluck……..BUT if
it’s a 2005 it’s Amy and Will Kernodle so just give them a wave too. Now if you’re in the Rt 26 area heading
through Millville and see a 2004 Grey convertible then give a wave to George
Shannon and his Fiance Georgia Tibbs.
Doing the trek on Rt. 24 …look around for a 1975 Burgundy Stingray and
give a wave because it’s Frank and Joanne Saltarelli or if it’s a 1996 Silver
CECoupe then it’s Jack and Sharon Ruscansky.
Welcome everyone. We’re glad you
decided to join us. Have fun!
WE’RE STILL COLLECTING ITEMS FOR THE RONALD McDONALD HOUSE IN
WILMINGTON in
preparation for our upcoming Cruise there in April. The list of items needed can be found at the end of this
newsletter. Please bring the items to
the February, March, and April meetings.

were voted in by the membership.
Secretary’s report—the
previous minutes were approved.
Treasurer’s Report---no
treasurer’s report. Buddy Clark
announced that due to personal issues, Janet Clark has requested to be relieved
of her duties as treasurer. Deb Willis
has volunteered to fill in until to new fiscal year.
The membership voted and
agreed.
Historian’s Report—Debbie
Willis had passed out pictures of the Grotto tree trimming and the Millsboro
Christmas prior to the meeting. She
invited everyone to look over the picture/history book.
Activities report—Carolyn Brinker suggested that we book our Christmas
party at this time for the same place as last year which was the LHR restaurant
in Lewes. Everyone was in
agreement. The first choice of dates
was Sat. Dec. 1; the second was Sat. Dec. 8.
Carolyn will call and make arrangements and also inquire into the
availability of the downstairs area.
Carolyn again asked what to
do about the Ocean City Jamboree that was cancelled last year. They still have our $100.00 deposit. Should she ask for it back or make
arrangements for another date/event? It
was decided that Carolyn would find out about other events and then we will
decide whether to attend or ask for the deposit to be returned.
Shorebirds game—Carolyn
reported that the only July Shorebirds home game was on July 7. The June home games were June 2-9-30. The membership decided on June 30. Carolyn will make arrangements. Buddy
explained to the new members the events of the evening, including the parade
around the field, picture taking, announcements of names and special parking
for the vettes.
March/April Activity—Ronald
McDonald House. April 28 is our first
choice for dates. Connie Magee said we
will do breakfast or dinner. Lunch was
also suggested as a cookout. Connie
will check to see if that is a possibility and will also set up the date. She also reminded everyone of the wish
list.
Carolyn announced there
were no further events planned for this month.
She asked that anyone who has suggestions for activities to please
contact her.
Christmas Decorations—Cindy
and Doug Riniker took down the tree at Grottos. They will give the decorations to Jim and Deb Willis for
storage. Jim and Deb also have
the car show paraphernalia. Cindy and
Doug Riniker will keep the club flag and banner.
Report of Sickness or
Distress—gladly there were none
to report. If anyone knows of any
member in sickness or distress they should notify Dianne Shaw.
Buddy Clark spoke on the
Lower Delaware Autism Foundation’s raffle.
They are raffling off a 2007 Corvette for $100.00 per ticket. The ticket limit is 1500. The foundation is a worthy cause and all
were encouraged to help out if possible.
Buddy Clark announced that it
is time to nominate officers for the coming year, which will begin in
April. He reminded the membership that
in order to serve as president or vice president, the nominee must be a member
for one year.
A nomination sheet was passed
around.
Rick Berry was not here. There is no Corvette trivia.
Doug Riniker informed the
membership that Cindy’s brother makes custom models. His company is Ray’s Custom Cars. He makes 1/25 models.
Doug will bring an album to the next meeting.
Meetings for February and
March will be at the Pizza Palace. If
anyone has suggestions for other meeting places, please give to Dianne Shaw.
