BEACHCOMBERS CORVETTE CLUB

MINUTES

August 7, 2003

bulletPresident Don Magee called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.

bullet21 members were present:  Ray and Marie Myers, Don and Connie Magee, Doug and Cindy Riniker, Peter and Marion Bon, Rose Leister, Jack and Linda Casto, John and Donna Dunning, Dale and Lynne Buckwalter, Joe Worts, Otts and Pat Bortle, Gus Bartoli, and Lennie and Debbie Kozarski.

bulletThe President welcomed Gus Bartoli to the meeting.  He is a member but cannot attend many of the meetings.

bulletThe President then asked for the Secretary’s report. Connie Magee asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes as stated in the newsletter and then requested that the minutes be approved as written from the July meeting.  Marie made a motion to have minutes approved as written and Rose seconded the motion and they were unanimously approved.

bulletRay read the treasurer’s report.  Connie made a motion to have the report approved and Ray seconded and they were unanimously approved.

bulletThe Vice President had three new applications to read off; Francis R. Bray of Rehoboth Beach , Michael and Debra Jahnigen of Frankford, and Robert and Jeanne VanHeest of Lewes.  Gus made a motion to accept all of the applications and Debbie seconded and all were in favor.

bulletRose stated that she had pictures from the crab feast and from the Shorebirds.

bulletMarie stated that we were going to take our cars to the Dairy Queen on Tuesday, August 12th for anyone wishing to bring theirs; the upcoming car show on August 23rd and the pool party on August 30th.  The pool party will be from 1:00-5:00 and a signup sheet was passed around for everyone to sign and state what they were bringing.  There was a discussion on what the club should provide and it was agreed on that it would be the chicken and drinks.  Peter made a motion on that and Joe seconded, all were in favor.

bulletMarie mentioned the all-you-can-eat crab night at Jimmy Lynn’s in Rehoboth was a great success, the crabs were delicious.

bulletMarie mentioned a trip to Carlisle the day after the car show and a trip to Old Salty’s on September 13th.  Sign up sheets were passed around and with the lack of interest, those ideas were dismissed.

bulletMarie mentioned the cruise to Tolchester , Maryland where John and Donna Dunning keeps their boat, on September 28th.  There is a restaurant at the location and it was suggested that we leave our area around 9:30 .  Details will follow at the September meeting.

bulletMarie mentioned a possible day trip in October to a wine and jazz festival in Maryland .  More details will follow at the next meeting.

bulletMarie mentioned new club T-shirts and possible hats for the men.  Lennie stated that he got his hat and the embroidery for $12.00.  Everyone suggested hats and visors.  Marie will check more into this.

bulletJoe commented that the trophies have been ordered and to date we have 31 sponsors.  He is also going to print up a pamphlet of some sort listing all the sponsors, etc. that we will hand out the day of the car show.   Any additional sponsor money will go toward the dash plaques being given out.  Joe also has the DJ lined up to begin at Noon on that day. A sample ballot sheet that was prepared by John Dunning was passed around for everyone to look at.   Joe mentioned that John Stitchberry will be providing the machine to cook the hot dogs and that we are going to use Dale’s generator if problem with electricity.  We will be asking Bruce Bent if he can get some tables for us to use.  Doug will provide his big cooler again and it will be filled with ice.

bulletJoe mentioned that Rose, Marie and Connie would be taking care of the purchase of the food for that day.

bulletMarie mentioned that to date we have 14 door prizes and Cindy said she might have a few more.

bulletWe plan to meet on August 21st at 6:00 at Marie and Ray’s house to stuff the goodie bags to be handed out at registration.  To date we have pens, magnets, huggies, jar grippers and key chains.

bulletDoug spoke to the American Cancer Society representative and they will come to the show that day, at a time convenient for them, in order that we can present the donation.

bulletThe President mentioned the flag that Pete Bryan and prepared stating First State is our sponsor.  Pete presented it to the club at the crab feast and he and Lee donated the flag to us.

bulletJack Casto mentioned the online discussion group that we have for the club.  He also talked about obtaining space on the web for our Club and that we need a URL which will probably cost about $15.00 per month.  Jack is going to check further into this and everyone from the Club agreed that this would be a good idea.
bulletThe 50/50 was held and $23.00 was won by Marion Bon.

bulletThe door prize of a 50th anniversary T-shirt was won by Don Magee.

bulletThe President adjourned the meeting at 8:30 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Connie Magee, Secretary
